Supported devices

MyTVGuide is optimized for Android TV and Google TV — that's what gives you the fastest guide, instant navigation, and the advanced live-TV controls (pause, rewind, catch-up) the app is built around.

Works beautifully on

Google TV Streamer

Google's current-generation streaming box. The most direct, fastest-updating home for MyTVGuide today.

Chromecast with Google TV

The compact stick version of the same Google TV platform — full MyTVGuide experience in something that disappears behind the TV.

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max

Fire OS is an Android fork, so MyTVGuide sideloads and runs well — our most-recommended pick for anyone already in the Amazon ecosystem.

Nvidia Shield

The most powerful Android TV box on the market and a favorite for demanding home theater setups thanks to its rock-solid 4K decoding.

Android TV / Google TV televisions

Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips and others sell TVs with Android TV or Google TV built in — no separate box needed. Check the TV's settings menu or box for either name.

Formuler boxes (Z8, Z11, etc.)

A well-known name among streaming box enthusiasts — Formuler boxes run Android TV under the hood, so MyTVGuide installs the same way it does on any other Android TV device.

Generic Android TV boxes

Plenty of inexpensive Android boxes are sold online under all kinds of brand names. Most run real Android and MyTVGuide will install fine — quality and long-term reliability just vary more than with a name-brand device, since they aren't all Google-certified.

Samsung, LG, or Roku smart TV?

Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) smart TVs, along with Roku TVs, run their own operating systems — not Android — so MyTVGuide doesn't install directly on any of them today.

The fix is simple: a Fire TV Stick or Google TV Streamer plugs into any HDMI port in a couple of minutes and unlocks the full MyTVGuide experience. Your existing TV just becomes the display — you won't need its built-in smart TV software at all.

This applies to TCL, Hisense, Sharp, and any other TV sold with Roku built in, as well as Samsung and LG's own smart TV platforms.

Setup time

Under 5 minutes

Not sure what your TV or box is running? Open its Settings menu and look for "Android TV," "Google TV," or "Fire OS" in the About/System section — if none of those show up, the plug-in-a- stick option above is the fastest path to a great experience.
