Troubleshooting

Audio is out of sync

When the sync control can fix it, and what to do when it cannot.

Whether MyTVGuide can shift the sound depends on who is decoding it. When the app decodes the soundtrack itself, it holds the audio and can move it. When your soundtrack is Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus or DTS, most TV boxes hand it straight to your television or sound system as an untouched signal — the app never has the audio, so nothing in the app can shift it.

  1. 1Press YELLOW while watching (or RIGHT → Audio sync).
  2. 2If the control is available, nudge in 50 ms steps: + if the voice arrives too early, − if it lags the lips. The setting is remembered and re-applied on every channel.
  3. 3If the panel shows the control as unavailable, it will say why — the sound for that programme is being passed to your TV or sound system, not decoded here.
Note:When the control is unavailable: most televisions and soundbars have their own audio-delay or lip-sync setting, and that is the one that will work. Alternatively, your box's own sound output setting (often Display & Sound → Audio output) can usually be switched from Auto/Bitstream to PCM/Stereo, which makes the app decode the sound instead — the sync control then becomes available, at the cost of stereo rather than surround.
Note:A small, constant offset that never drifts is usually your sound system's own decoding delay. A gap that grows over time is a different problem — try the 60-second reset ladder.

Still stuck? Two things fix most one-off problems before anything else: the 60-second reset ladder , and a refresh of your provider’s lineup. Neither touches your favourites, settings or connections.
